About the event

The Mekong region's forests are among the most diverse on the planet, yet they are experiencing some of the highest deforestation rates in the world as incentives and systems to sustainably manage these forests are poorly developed and applied. Among the drivers of forest loss and degradation, are uncoordinated land-use planning, weak governance and policies that are counter to sustainability.

Under the regional project, namely Voice for Mekong Forests (V4MF), the country project team (including PanNature, RECOFTC and WWF) initiated a non-state actors (NSA) forest landscape governance monitoring systems (FGMS). The system is expected to contribute on improved forest governance information that is cost effective to collect, present and access, building on experiences of applying forest monitoring in forest governance processes in targeted and trans-boundary landscapes (district or multi-districts level).

The invariable foundation of the system is the set of indicators, which is developed by project team members and consulted through a technical working group. Dr. Ngo Tri Dung and Nguyen Hai Van (FTViet project) has been invited as members of this Technical working group.

The 2nd consultation meeting of this Technical Working Group will be held on 21 March, 2019 in Hoian, Vietnam.
